Be aware of fraudulent vendors on this site.
I found their customer service to be excellent! I recently ordered what was advertised as a new copy of the 1994 First Edition of “The Rise and Fall of Merry England” by Ronald Hutton. I paid $147.00 and change for this book from a vendor named Revaluation Books. What I ended up receiving was a cheap 2011 reprint of the first edition. Clearly this was not as advertised.
I immediately contacted Alibris to make a return. Revaluation Books claimed that they cited 1994 only as the year of origin. This was not true and I proved it. Alibris processed a refund immediately once the book reached their warehouse.
I say this with any book vendor site. Check the reliability of their site. Do they screen their vendors? Do they allow returns? Will they advocate for you if you’re a victim of false advertising?
I continue to use Alibris, and their customer service is nice. I would recommend doing business with this company.

Alibris attempts bait and switch [bad site programming]
They will whine they as just a third party seller but don't believe it. It is basic practice that if a seller sells elsewhere they notify these other outlets. If you don't have a book DON'T LIST IT. If Alibris says otherwise they are lying.
[*** update: Alibris did contact me but simply restated the problem I am complaining about rather than acknowledging the need to fix it. They also said they don't want negative reviews. Duh. ***]
I'm no bot but I will be sure to spend this review far and wide to spare others the grief of being scammed. I suggest others do the same. I would suggest avoiding shopping at Albris.
The only reason I gave it one star is it will not allow lower.
[*** update: I will stay with one star for Alibris as they confirm their system does not update in a timely fashion. Other similar sites appear not only to update very quickly (if not immediately upon someone else ordering, thy also remove the item from any "wishlist" or if it is "saved for later" by other perspective customers. Alibris, fix your programming. ***]

I saw the fake stellar reviews and did not dig deeper. I til... I had an issue. Initially, I wanted to give a small seller some business after COVID and the site looked really good. What a big mistake that was! Shame on this outfit.

They are a scam. Period. Despite what the alibis rep "Michael" posts on all the review sites. I suggest he spend more time responding to customer concerns.

They are a scam. They charged me $50 for shipping that cost them $10 and then pretended to not understand when I asked for a refund. Never, ever use them for anything.

They will not investigate issues. They will simply quote their return policy without any attempts to correct their actions. You might get lucky and walk away with a cheap book, or you might get scammed into buying a book without any content.
